Top Ten Male R&B Groups
The Temptations. though I am not a big fan of the early motown sound because it was more pop then a Hitsville or caddilac records and the melodies and lyrics were purposely ripped of soul to be put on white radio which at the time wasn't execepting of real soul music. Motown has changed and times have changed. I have to say that the temptations had beautiful harmony and soft voices to contrast david ruffin soulful voice.New edition. Though they made only a few albums as a group the individual talent are the best and their music ruled the 90's .I went to new edition re-union few yrs ago and bell biv devoe song thier hits, johny gill his, bobby and raplh also then they song new edition hits 'can you stand the rain, my my my, tendor roni, see you smile again' classics..then they song the new edition songs to get all that from one concert was amazing. They started the 80-90's boy band thing. I would say new kids on the block copied but they had the same manager so they where cloned after them. there would have never been Nsync, backstreet boys wasnt for them. though NE had better singers alltogether. Justin Timberlake is doin his thing though.
Toni Tone Tony..anniversay, It never rains, lay your head on my pillow, just me and you, slow wind, it feels good. all these songs to this day put me in a zone. I forget about all my problems and dream. rapheal sadiq has a voice that simple but not boring. he never over sings so that you can hear the beauty of the music. he never under sings to sound boring. you feel what hes saying..and they write beautiful creative music. never selling as much as a boyz II men but always made quality music and stayed in the game a while doing it.
Jodeci. Forever my lady, stay, Love you for life, come and talk to me believe in love. Still to this day never get tired of hearing those songs. I put jodeci above boyz II men because they had 3 albums that had nothing but jams front to back. Boyz II men had some classics but they albums didnt compare. Jodeci never sold as many records becuase they were not as marketable at the time not as clean cut enough to have the same mass appeal. Jodeci had original music. creative soulful and beautiful put together and there songs told a story that yuo beleived.
Boyz II men. I'll make love to you, end of the road, hard to say goodbye. these guys could sing they all had different styles that complimented each other well. Truthfully they lacked original songs and at times remind me of a sophisticated barbers quartet. But when they got they right songs such as the ones I mention they killed it. and those classics will always be classics
Jagged Edge. I promise, lets get married, good luck charm, he can't love you where the party at. as for as current groups still making hits JE is above the rest. they god a sound that isa combination of soulful hip and smove. thier songs talk about love but they are never sappy always real..with Jermaine dupri producing the beats are tight..thier still active but when its all done they could be the best. though r&b isnt appreciated as much today and their may never be massive record sales as past. JE keep making hits.
Mint conditon. Pretty brown eyes, what kind of men would i be..songs that never be forgotten. some of thier albums didnt have a lot of hits but they they are not done yet.
The Isley Brothers. between the sheets, summer breeze spend the night. Ron isley always had some of the best vocals..and some of his songs always will be classics. some of the songs lacked a emotonal connection but Rons voice and nice creative music sounds equals beatufiul music.
The Ojays..backstabbers, used to be my girl..eddie lever had that that powerful voce to compliment the smove voice of his partners..Ohh I would mention levert his sons but gerald made more albums alone..the group didnt do much together.
Debarge..Ok thoughthey didnt make alot of records or make it far im counting the whole debarge family as a group thats why they made have some classics unforgetable.. Time will reveal by EL, I like it by Debarge, queen of my heart Debarge, there will never be switch feat. Bobby Debarge..dont forget chico..They never made it big but as for as music goes..there have never been more beautiful natural high tone voices with such ranges as El and Bobby and smoove sounds james, and chico..
