Riding

Horse Back Riding. I think many people don't quite understand how dangerous this sport is. I understand that cheerleading is EXTREMELY dangerous. Props to all cheerleaders.

But for the people who say they've ridden and it's not dangerous...I cannot begin to describe all tge arguments I have. First, clearpy you've been on a ride. Second, just because it doesn't SEEM dangerous, it is. Third, you've probably never raced/evented/barrel-raced. AND THOSE ARE NOT THE ONLY DANGEROUS THINGS!!! Once you are within a kicking distance of a horse, all the danger begins. I am EXTREMELY lucky--i've not been badly harmed...
yes, cheerleaders can fall from twenty feet--but we can be THROWN with FORCE into a hard jump. Racing--horses often flip over and propel you face-first into the hard ground from a fifty-mile-per-hour gallop. Barrel-racing: horses often slip at the extremely tight turns, can flip over and CRUSH you. That's 1,200 pounds of muscle and bone. Eventing: things like cross country and showjumping. XC: huge, solid jumps at a gallop. horses often flip over the immovable jumps. and showjumping: refusals are common from a fast canter, as well as falls over the very high jumps.


Riding is dangerous. Period.
But it's my life.

one more thing.
i wantto bring to your attention:
most riders arent "bragging" when they argue about how dangerous riding is. we want to be recognized as showing the bravery we must show. we want to be recognized as working hard as we do. We want people to see the risks we take, that this isn't easy. we want to show that we're NOT wimps, and this is a hard sport.

“i completely agree cuz ive gotten a concussion and have broken so many bones doing this sport, and the thing i can't stand is when ppl say that riding isn't a sport, and cheer, its hard but they r not on animal with a mind of its own. how long have u been riding?? ive only been riding for 3 years, but i want to keep doing it forever, well as long as im phisically able to. and for any time anyone says that riding isn't a sport, and that it isn't dangerous tell them that its two hearts, two minds, two bodies, working, winning, losing, and sometimes even falling together, hbr, its a rewarding, thrilling, and sometimes tragic sport, but it is OUR sport!! then u can put my signiture peace sign as in peace out suckers, for those idiots that don't think riding is a sport.
