No matter how much water storage you have, there is a chance you will run out. Make sure you can add to your stash if need be.

So, I think that its better to be ready with water purifiers then being prepared with gallons and tones of water...

This is the best choice because water can be found everywhere. If world falls into a world of disaster, then there should still be some living creatures or plants which you can get liquid from (urine is one idea), but it is not suitable for human drinking, therefore purification kits can help a lot!

A handy tool just in case mankind turns to cannibalism... Quick and easy.

Prior to the modern age of medicine, relatively minor wounds led to death far more often than you would imagine. If you have ever been in a survival situation then this would be at the top of your list. Here is a short list of what a survival knife could be used for. Cleaning game, preparing shelter, opening food rations, creating shelter, and starting fires (with flint not just a random rock like in the movies)

A good knife is the most basic needed survival tool... Ever.
In the hand of a man with the knowledge and skill... It one can protect, feed, cloth and shelter.. Also steel and flint (rock) can also be used to create spark = fire... Any man that has learned survival skills knows this.

The knife is the most universal tool ever devised. With a knife you are capable of creating other tools... Such as hammers, axes, water stills (from plastic bottles. ) The knife will always be the one tool man can turn back to in any situation and create a new way to adapt to your surroundings.

An unloaded gun is useless! You need to have plenty of ammo! You have to protect what is yours!

Waving a gun around may be enough to scare away some, but being armed won't do you nearly as much good if you don't have any bullets.

This is one of the most valuable things and should be in the top 5 at least. Good for making bows. Tie yourself to a tree and sleep on top of a tree branch. Also good for making fire starters like the bow drill.

While it is good to have your own things to survive, eventually they run out or break, and when that happens there are going to be plenty of empty houses with plenty of things the former owners will no longer be needing. And since they're no longer around, it's as good as yours. And what will be of greatest aid to you in this? A lock pick.

Yeah I agree, I mean I don't believe in doomsday 2012, but if it was real that would be useful bucause if you run out of food you can just go to some dead persons house and break into it with the lock pick set and get more foos, cause there has got to be food laying around in there

This would be very handy in an urban environment where you need to access supplies that now one else has the tools to get at!

What's the good of surviving if you don't know where to go for help, or if another disaster is coming your way? The radio will help you stay attached to the rest of the world, especially if it's hand crank powered. It doesn't run on batteries, so it wouldn't die on you when you are trying to reach help.
If it is also a crank powered flashlight, that is even better! The light would be easily accessible instead of having to light a fire everywhere it's dark. Having it not run on batteries would make it perfect invade all the battery supplies ran out, or were used on other things.

Who wouldn't want a machine gun. You could take out an entire zombie apocalypse with this bad boy.

Great for finding fleas (just kidding), actually great for starting a fire to cook food if one runs out of matches!
