I remember playing this game on it's N64 version as kid, now this time Mario is not alone, teaming in his crew are the cool little dinosaur Yoshi, little big unexpecting her Luigi and the fat butt ugly Wario Mario is back to defeat Bowser, restor the Mushroom Kingdom and rescue Princess Peach. I own it on my D. S.

2Super Mario Galaxy
I found this game to be better than the sequel for several reasons. First, it was blatantly obvious that Nintendo was running out of ideas at the end of SMG2( Mario Squared Galaxy, Stone Cyclone Galaxy). Secondly, I found this soundtrack to be stronger than the sequel's. Finally, I really liked Rosalina as opposed to Lubba (A fat luma? Really? )
This is also my favorite because how much more creative the level design was compared to the 2d games and some of the other 3d ones (sunshine equals tropical levels for the ENTIRE GAME).
Mario gets invited to a party for princess peach. When he is almost at the castle bowsers ship appeard and picked up the castle. The new power ups are : ice power, bee suit, ghost suit, and medal suit. I don't really know what the medal suit lets you do because I never acctully used it so. Ghost suit lets you fly for a short time and lets you fool the ghosts and lets you go through stuff. The bee suit lets you fly for a swhort time and lets you stink enemies (i think). And ice power lets you freeze platforms to get on them.
Personally, my favorite Mario game. The new setting of taking place in space and tons of hours of gameplay. And not to mention that th is was the first Mario game to appear on the Wii. With 120 Stars to collect AND when you beat the game, you have the option to play as Mario's Underrated Brother Luigi with 1 additional star to collect.

3Super Mario Bros. 3
This game is the definition of creativity and is paralleled only by super Mario world. It changed the way Mario games were developed, and one can't help but feel at home while playing this game.
Okay, let me get this straight. Super Mario Bros. 3 is under Super Mario Galaxy, (no offense that is a amazing game worthy of 4th place, but it pails in comparison to Mario 3)Super Mario world, (which should be number 2)Mario Kart Double Dash, (How the heck did this get in 2nd place? )and finally Super Mario 64(which should be 3rd place). Now did I prove my point? NOW GET OUT THERE AND VOTE FOR SUPER MARIO BROTHERS 3!

4Super Mario Galaxy 2
Three words: JUST PLAIN AWESOME! No other mario game tops this one. It corrects every mistake of all the others, making it a near perfect game.

Back in 2009, I would have answered Super Mario World. I loved the first Mario Galaxy, but just not as much as SMW. But the sequel is just too good: it solves every problem the original had, and it's plainly the best Mario game ever.

As a side note, how on Earth can Super Mario 64 be number 1? This (SMG2) is how 3D Mario should be done. SM64 is not. SMW is way better!

I loved everything about this game, all the missions the stories, it was Mario at his finest never got how bowser got so big though, still play it today.

This is a fun game, my favorite of the Mario's. It's not too difficult, not to hard. Continue playing it.

12Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
I love this game SO MUCH! This is my second favourite Gamecube game aside from "The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker. " I love the places in this game! I've been so amazed in this game since I was 8. Too bad this doesn't have a multiplayer mode. This is my favourite game made in 2004.
This should be number one. It was an amazing game that along with Super Smash Bros. Melee, which should also be high on this list, make up all of the time I spent playing my Gamecube.

This bowser battle is simply the best ever. This game brings every element that we love about Super Nintendo

What hapends here is, it is princess peaches birthday. Then the cake comes in. Then the eight kooplings and bowser junior (jr. ) pops out of the cake and throws it on princess peach. The new power-ups are:propeller suit, and penguin suit. The peinguin suit lets you freeze enemies and pick them up and throw them or lets you slide on ice, lets you break bricks with its beak (with you only have to do in world 3-1 to get the first star) or walk on ice without slipping.
Well look at that, now its the DS version with mini-games. I lost this game 2010 so I don't know what to tell you.
This is great. It has the Mega Mushroom, the Tiny Mushroom, a world map and the classic plot.

Its the best game I ever played! I still have the game and I'm still playing the game from the beginning. Fun missions and fantastic races! I love rainbow road and think of it as one of the best tracks on the game. If you buy the game, you would enjoy the whole thing!

The DS version sucks this one is better because of the ships witch bowser jr owns and you need star coins to get to toad houses on DS and not wii
The fact that this game has a multiplayer for story mode makes it it a bit better that the DS version, I mean you can use teamwork and it's really fun.

It would be galaxy, but I suck at that. I get game over on the first proper level :) so it's sonna have to be this!

This game deserves better. The story is well thought out and the characters are original. The only problem is that the 3-D landscape is not very visual compared to 2-D.

This should be somewhere at the top! It has amazing gamepay that's almost as good as super mario galaxy! I am only on level 3-3 though.

This isn't just the greatest Mario game ever, it's the greatest game ever period! It's so challenging once you get on a high level, the topic of Mario being a doctor and Peach being a nurse is awesome, and the Nintendo 64 one has a great story! How Dr. Mario was rejected for Super Smash Bros Brawl and how they haven't given him games of other genres are both things I'll never ever understand!

39New Super Mario Bros. 2
Ok, I never played wii, gameboy, nes and snes mario games, so I like this one the best.
This is a very new game for 2012. There is six levels. What happends is mario and luigi wake to princess peach as they start flying with there racoon suit for coins. When the racoon suit dies down, mario and luigi fall on the ground. Then a giant flying cup with a clown face on it comes down on the ground and takes away mario and luigis racoon suit (power-up) away. The 8 kooplings were in the clown bowl thing. Then they show mario and luigi that they have the princess then they fly to bowser. The new power ups are:white racoon suit and gold power. Gold power can shoot bricks, enemies and more to turn them into gold coins. And the white racoon suit lets you fly for a short time. It also lets you bump into anything. They only things you can't bump into are, fire pits (not balls or lazers), acid, and holes (of course).
I know there are setbacks for this game like:

3D is awful!
The 1,000,000 coin reward is dumb!
It's too easy to get 1-ups!

Where do I even start? How is Mario Sports Mix all the way down here, anyway? It's the most awesome game in Mario history since Mariokart! You can finally play as Bowser as an actual character, not a villian. You can play as Toad, who is my third favorite character before Luigi and Daisy.
Over all, you can unlock Ninja who is 110% awesome.
