The Top Ten

1
Rammstein

Rammstein is the real deal! Even as someone who barely understands a word of the German language, the music itself stands alone! Please enjoy this band, for they are the ultimate in all genres of music. Being a Canadian citizen, I have to tolerate the Justin Beiber phenomenon everyday of my life through the media, the radio, the TV... etc! It is disgusting! Rammstein brings me into a world of pure want and enjoyment. They will only get better as the years progress.

Just saw them live recently one of the best live performances I've ever witnessed. Combichrist opened for them and I was extremely disappointed with there set.

Ramstein is totally best and their live performance and keyboard play is far the best!!!!!!11

2Nine Inch Nails

number 1.

Seems To Be A common Misconception about industrial music... Wiki it IdIots.!
Trent is the father of Pop Industrial.

nin did not invent industrial music. nin just made it popular and enhanced it.

NIN took the industrial belt to another level. Reznor very much shed light on the term "industrial music".

3Marilyn Manson

I don't know what the hell BFMV, A perfect circle or Tool is doing on this list, none of these bands come close to Industrial.
1. Marilyn Manson
2. Rob Zombie
3. Dope

D2Demon

Marilyn Manson has created an entire world of phantasmal freaks with just three albums. Heck, all of their albums are amazing! Love them!

5 Best Manson Albums:
Holy Wood
Anti Christ Superstar
Mechanical Animals
The High End of Low
Eat Me Drink Me

Prince of darkness rules on top! manson all the way!

4Skinny Puppy

Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly,
Numb, Controlled Bleeding, Diatribe, etc. Etc. They are true industrial. This is the worst list I have ever seen. Many of the bands on the list are not even close to being industrial!

This band was one of the starters of pure industrial music! Nobody can be compared to Skinny Puppy. Just the way the sounds are textured is pure genius! Brap on!

The roots of them all. The influence of this band on the global musical scene of the 80's was way more important than most of the other band on that list. Were is Einsturzende Neubauten?

5Combichrist

As much as I LOVE Rammstein, Combichrist has sort of surpassed them in the favorite industrial bands thing. But I still love Rammstein and I always will! Even though I haven't seen them live yet, I see just from watching concert footage of Combichrist just how awesome they are! Their music is just epic. No other industrial band gets my blood pumping like Combi does!

Combichrist share with us magnificent music and strong energy on every concert that they perform. I'm wondering! Truly, power of they music wakes my senses. :)
Nevenka

Absolutely, the most underrated industrial band I have ever heard. Their music is an 'audio energy pill! "
Its difficult to run or workout to this music without feeling so 'amped, ' that I could either run a 5 minute mile, or end up in the emergency room!

6Velvet Acid Christ

Well rounded band that covers various moods and styles and keeps it fresh with attention to detail and a knack for the technical aspects of production!

Best dark electronic band ever.
Don't know if it's really industrial.
But if skinny puppy are, vac is definitely too.
And they are way better!

I love industrial music. I like it dark, and electronic. I like noise, and static.

A lot of these bands have influenced the industrial scene, whether or not they can be defined by a genre label is not for me to say. I will say that I consider most, if not all these bands industrial; some of these bands are more so industrial than others.

I found Velvet Acid Christ to be the band I feel I can relate to the most. The music is consistently, richly layered with a dark, electronic sound whilst continuing to vary and grow in each release.

7Tool

Whoever made this list is screwed up. No matter what list it's in, Tool is ALWAYS first.

Putting aside my opinion though... Marilyn Manson is NEVER is the same category as tool. Most of these bands don't fit the 'Industrial' label.

Tool #1
NIN #2
-then 8 more bands-

TOOL? INDUSTRIAL?

"angels on the sideline, puzzled and amused... "

Tool is definitely. Not industrial!

First place: Nine Inch Nails
Second: Manson
Third: Rob(y)

I don't know if Tool should really be considered industrial, although it shares a lot with the genre. Regardless, this band is a rare gem, combining simplistic-yet-catchy hooks with an unstoppable originality. Also, Tool is remarkably difficult to attach to any genre, and should not be unwelcome on any genre- one of the best bands ever.

8KMFDM

+7KMFDM sucks! (And if you don't get that, you're probably not a fan D:)
Why is Marilyn Manson on here anyway? They're industrial metal =/

FashionistState

+1Kmfdm does suck. And you left out silizium. Tool is not industrial nor is Manson duh. I don't think you people know what industrial rock is!

+1dude, KMFDM are the pioneers of industrial rock. why isn't KMFDM in there?!

9Ministry

PROBABLY THE BEST INDUSTRIAL BAND EVER. THEY'VE ONLY GOTTEN HEAVIER OVER THE YEARS AND HUGE INFLUENCE ON A LOT OF WHAT WE HEAR NOW. DON'T FORGET, A BAND THAT NEVER WENT COMMERCIAL.

I couldn't live without a Ministry disc in my car. No Ministry, no NIN. Tool are a great band but sure as hell don't belong anywhere near this list, nor do Bullet For My Valentine (Why they're here is an absolute mystery). Ministry, Rammstein, NIN, Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, KMFDM, Stabbing Westward and Front 242 are my picks.

I'd have to go with Ministry too. To me, they brought industrial rock to the mainstream... but, that's just me...

10Oomph!

Throbbing gristle and newlydeads. Enough said. The problem is that so many others have been influenced by the industrial sound that you can put a lot of people on here who may not actually belong

Oomph! Has inspired many industrial bands in this world

Oomph! And rammstein are the best bands in the world. This List is wrong oomph! Is not number 10 it should be number 1 because many bands were inspired by oomph!

The Contenders

11Kraftwerk ?

For 1970's its pretty sweet. Watch some of Kraftwerk's live performances on youtube and they are really good.

12Celldweller

Oh... All you sad people who have never heard of Celldweller. I feel very sorry for you. As someone who has put "Industrial" to a whole new level that nobody ever got close to, Celldweller should be right up there with Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. Oh, and what is Bullet for my Valentine doing on this list?

Amazing band, singing, not just screaming along with great synthesized sounds, Celldweller is a definite cannot miss band. I saw Klayton in concert and it was one of the best I have ever been too. A wall of sound is probably the best way to describe it.

Just a truly great band I mean this is a list of truly amazing bands but I gotta vote for celldweller over these huge bands in just some small attempt to get at least one person to look them up. There truly a great band and klayton is a terrific vocalist with some great lyrics worth any ones time to listen to them cannot recommend this band enough.

13DUALPROFORM
14Static X
15Laibach

Because THEY started ALL. Back in 1980. Have in mind that the style of RAMMSTEIN (the cross badge) and also the music (even the voice) are just a copy of LAIBACH's metal years. All other bands doing Industrial music. LAIBACH doing Industrial ART.

16Rob Zombie
17VNV Nation

The best of Industrial EBM, not to be missed.

18Front 242

C'mon people... who made this list? Frat boys? Front 242 were reigning kings in the industrial world for quite some time!

star242

There is a reason Front 242 - Headhunter is track #1 on the iTunes Industrial Essentials list. I saw Front 242 live at a small University venue in Stockholm in the late 90's and I couldn't believe how heavy and intense the concert was. They made other "heavy" electronic bands at the time come across like feather-weight players.

Too right! Seen them twice live now... amazing energy
Should be at the top of the list!

19The Birthday Massacre
20Bullet For My Valentine

Aside from the vocalist, not a bad sound.

WTF? it shuold be in the top three for sure.. have doubts? listen to albums the poison and scream, aim, fire..

metaniac

21Front Line Assembly

These guys should be WAY higher up on the list. Leeb and company are not only massively influential but also responsible for some awesome side projects. (Delerium, Equinox, Cyberactif, Decree) Tactical Neural Implant is one of the best electronic of all time.

22A Perfect Circle
23Stabbing Westward
24Mushroomhead

The best industrial band of all time should rank way higher. Mushroomhead has dominated the underground for many years and deserves much better. They work very hard on what they do and are very good live they don't just have the looks they have the good sound to back it up.

wtf theres tool up there but no mushroomhead what r u guys def

25Coil
26Powerman 5000
27Die Krupps

They are the next in timeline (after LAIBACH). They are a great inspiration. In electro with the first years and in Industrial metal with all the other songs after 1990. Quiz Question: Just listen to the fourth song of DK. I (1992) "The dawning of doom" and tell me for which song Rammstein took the same riff (a bit heavier).

derekart

28Mindless Self Indugence
2916Volt

omg no body put them on here! whats the matter with people

pandalover95

30Filter

Filter is another band that should be on here. Richard Patrick from NIN quit and formed Filter which is an Industrial Alternative band. It should be on here and has been influential since the 90s

xaxismusic

Glad to see Filter here. Listen to Hey Man Nice Shot or Take A Picture.

31Ayria

One of the few female artist out there that really has made a name for herself. As well she has been doing way before Ayria when she was a part of Epsilon Minus

32Acid Android

l'arc~en~ciel's drummer yukihiro solo band
amazing band

ronluna

33Mad Capsule Markets
34Rosewater
35Throbbing Gristle

The First and the only ones.

Pointdexter

36Pain

Why isn't this guy up there!?

The guy who makes this kind of music is a bona fide genius

37Deathstars
38Fear Factory
39Orgy
40Calmando Qual

Every fan of fine industrial/experimental music falls for Calmando Qual, when they hear them! Japanese indy. Unpredictable, original, sometimes heavy and sometimes subtle. Artful and contagious.

41Cabaret Voltaire

More innovative than ANY of the bands on this list! Take a genre, crush it, and give it a crushing sinister sound! This is what made Skinny Puppy, Front line assembly and Front 242 famous. It was the formula of CABARET Voltaire! THEY did what THROBBING GRISTLE could not do (since TG broke in 1981). I am going to bring them BACK!

42My Life with The Thrill Kill Kult

+1The most killer band that has ever exited... it has everything you need from horror to sleeze... A higher quality of industrial music, it's simply the most satisfying band that has ever existed.

Sex on Wheels is my Mantra. They should be first just because of their crossover to mainstream with this one song. It says a lot when others enjoy your work and they're not even Industrialites

43Foetus

Well, for one thing, they're the only industrial band on this list, and for another, Jim Thirlwell is probably the best industrial musician on the planet.

AMAZING! Why don't more people know about Foetus? Thirlwell kicks the sh! T out of Reznor's whiney drab music.

FOETUS SHOULD BE #1 AND THE REST OF THE LIST SHOULD START AT ABOUT 100.
Listen to Nail & Hole 10 times in a row and get enlightened.

44Nitzer Ebb
45Dope
46Godflesh
47Atari Teenage Riot
48Kidney Thieves

Just an incredible band and they deserve so much more recognition due to the fact that there music is abosolutly wonderful. If you havn't heard the album zerospace I feel sorry for you. Listen to it asap it will be one of the best musical experiences of your life.

49Columbine.

54Hocico
55Bitch Alert
56Helmet
57The Skeptics
58The Cruxshadows
59Monte Cazazza
60Emilie Autumn

Such a beautiful, unique voice. Her lyrics are so powerful. In my opinion she is one of the best voices in rock! And she's stunning!

Very dark and beautiful with a hint of the Victorian era.

62Machines of Loving Grace

Golgotha Tenement Blues is my favorite song on the soundtrack of "The Crow".
