seriously, why is he below kirk hammett, he should at least be 3 or 4I agree Kirk Hammett is away better than dave mustaine, his solo's are amazing and I do not know why dave hates kirk, he never did anything to daves kicking out of metallica, Kirk is 10 times better than dave, face the fact. Dave mustaine cried on tv. and in his every interview he talks about metallica, and how he wish he could be kirk hammett, dave you're good, but lets face the fact here, kirk kicks your ass, Metal up your ass!

I think your wrong guys people like slash, kirk hammett, angus young, richie sambora, prince, John frusciante, buckethead are better than Brian May because Brian May did the best solo rock anthem which could have became a history, and this is one of the best rock anthem in the history of rock

Just AMAZING; I think he is the best out there right now. I don't know what I can say about this guy that hasn't already been said. However, I WILL say that he deserves to be WAY ahead of: Herman Li (StudioForce), Synyster Gates (overrated), John Frusciante (good, but out of his league here), Eric Johnson (for whom I have great respect), Prince (... really? :[ ), Hendrix Clapton and Page (good rock guys, but not as skilled), Slash (very good but also overrated), Neal Schon and Brian May (not as skilled), Van Halen Matthias Jabs and Angus Young (also all very good, but not at all in the same class as Petrucci). Anyway, my top 6 favorites are (in no particular order, aside from Petrucci) : John Petrucci Paul Gilbert Randy Rhoads (SPELL HIS NAME CORRECTLY PEOPLE! ) Joe Satriani Kirk Hammett Marty Friedman AWESOMENESS!

Kirk Hammett has amazing solos and entrances. Just listen to One, Fade to Black, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, All Nightmare Long, etc. etc. etc. I think Kirk Hammett should at least be in the top 3, if not number one.

Jimi Hendrix is Defiantly the best I have ever heard. If you seriously think Slash is the second best then you are sadly mistaken. The only reason most people vote for him is because he is on Guitar Hero III. Jimmy Page is a good choice, he rocked out in Led Zeppelin. But for fourth place there's Tariqh Akoni. He shouldn't even be in the top 100. Eddie Van Halen as fifth is a great choice for the list. Prince, who would actually vote for him as the sixth greatest guitar player ever? Horrible. Synyster Gates as the seventh? That's a dumb choice. Buckethead is probably the fastest guitarist out there but not a great option for the top ten. Probably the top 25. Kirk Hammett at eleventh is a great choice. But Angus Young at 12? I love AC/DC but he is probably late 90's.
Slash is brilliant, but not metal. Kirk Hammett is the epitomy of thrash metal

Kirk Hammett is pretty much my favorite guitarist on here, his solos and his riffs are amazing they are just impossible. I think he's way better than Jimi Hendrix but I think jimi isn't that great
Kirk Hammett... I only just got into Metallica recently and I love it... He is an amazing guitarist and has a unique style and loves his Wha-Wha.. the best solos are in Master of Puppets... Fade To Black.. One etc etc etc... I wouldn't call him the best... but he is a guitar legend.. for those about to rock I salute you...!
You know, it saddens me when there are these morons that actually think Kirk Hammett or Dimebag was the greatest, yet when there are so many great underground metal guitarists like Jani Liimatainen who would whoop them! He should be one of the top 10. Along with Mike Davis too, another really underrated guitarist.
Should be WELL above Synster Gates (Who can't even remember his own solos) Kirk Hammett play with Metallica and doesn't kill the song with solos.

luke william fielding has been very successful in his short but great career. he has come up with solos that i only dream i could play. this man, maybe in a few years, could be compared to the legends of heavy metal guitarist such as dave mustaine, kirk hammett, dimebag darell, kerry king, zakk wylde, eddie van halen, steve vai, buckethead and slash. i dont see why you wouldnt want a true hero to top this list. im not saying that dave mustaine isnt a legend. vote fielding.
how the hell did jimmy paige and prince make it ahead of mustaine, freidman and dimebag darrell. jimmy paige plays the so called best solo ever made but i learnt to play it when i was 12. that just gos to show that metal is much more advanced then crap rock. dave mustaine should also be ahead of kirk hammett because hammett stole mustaines solos and got all the credit for it. dave mustaine is also a way faster and better guitarist then hammett is.
