Rob Halford

To see Rob Halford down here is almost disgraceful. Along with Geoff Tate, Dio and Bruce Dickinson; he belongs in the top 20 if not top 10.
I have no arguments with MJ and Freddie on top but who the heck is Rhydian and how do people have the nerve to rate him higher than the Metal God?
Hell, that Rhydian guy has only released one album which amounts to nothing.
Rob Halford has been performing since 1974, astonishing people with that awesome voice. He had a range of 4 - 6 octaves and could easily change his style to match the music. From sweet, soft, sad songs like Dreamer Deceiver; Blood Red Skies; Last Rose of Summer and Beyond the Realms of Death to vicious snarling metal tunes like Breaking the Law; Hell Bent for Leather; Delivering the Goods; etc. He could reach notes so high, it could make fine crystal break. I'm talking about Dissident Aggressor; Painkiller; Sinner; Exciter, Ram it Down and the mac-daddy of Priest songs, Victim of Changes, where his entire vocal range is showcased in all its glory.
So come on guys, vote up the METAL GOD!

How is Eminem higher? Are you people all mentally challenged? Seriously! THINK before you choose. Since when is rapping the same as singing? Isn't it just talking in rhyme? Hell, you may as well nominate Dr. Seuss. No, you morons aren't biased or anything. Just because YOU like smeone doesn't mean that person is better than everyone else. It's like... Jimi Hendrix isn't my favorite guitarist, but I'll admit there's never been anyone better. If you're not gonna pick the BEST, but just promote your favorites, do us all a favor, and keep your opinions to yourself (and Halford isn't my choice. But I was just looking for the first name I saw below Eminem that shouldn't have been. I certainly wasn't going to give Em the vote so I could post it on HIS entry).

Rob won't ever place high on any top whatever list because these things are popularity contests, not true evaluations of vocal skill and ability. Not to mention there are relatively very few of us who appreciate, love, or even know that Heavy Metal exists. Another thing that isn't really analyzed are factors like song writing, emotion, genre crossover, and lyric command. Those of us who love and adore Rob Halford know these things are all prevalant in his performances to such a degree that when we see him perform or listen to any album he performs on, we're always blown away.

You all Are NUTS! How can anyone ever compare singers like michael jackson and axl rose with the Metal God Rob Halford?! In his prime he had a vocal range over 6 octaves and tell me who else in the world had a better falsetto wail/tenor voice than him, huh? I'm sick and tired of people not giving Heavy Metal music the honor and respect it deserves. Rob Halford is the greatest Metal singer and the greatest singer/frontman of all genre of all time.. If he is second then he's second only to Robert plant and no one else and don't you forget it! Metal God Rules!

Halford could hit vocal notes so high that vocalists would run in fear and then simultaneously switch to a soft moody voice for the ballads and he is lower than Michael Jackson and M. Shadows? Halford was also an amazing frontman displaying how a real concert performance should be done. He truly lives up to the name "Metal God. " I think the song "Beyond the Realms of Death" sums up what I just said nicely.

Only because not too many have listened to his music is rob not top 5 or even top 2. He combines passion, vocal range, and perfect pitch, especially in the first 2 decades of his career. His music is complex and rich. He does not sing any particular song in only one key, but varies the notes and keys so that he gives a full and tune just with his voice, almost not needing the accompaniment.

Rob Halford is one of the best singers of history of music. He can play everithig with his voice. I recomend listen Dreamer Deciever and Painkiller. He changes and experiment an evolution with the voice against 3 decades and is one of more influential singers in the history of rock. Alive he is sometimes better than Mercury. Hello... Nr 46 as I write this. CAN NOT BE! BLASPHEMOUS! He deserves to be on number one. Just listen to Victim of Changes, Beyond the realms of death, dreamer deceiver or even The Ripper. This man is one of the best and I love all genres! I prefer listening to Rob Halford over anyone who is mentioned above!

He is called the Metal God for a reason. And that reason is that he can sing better than any other singer on the planet (excluding opera singers maybe). The range of his voice, the power and emotion he pours to his singing send shivers down my spine. Plus, lots of the singers mentioned above can't hit a note to save their lives...

Agreed. All these top ten lists are driven by mainstream. Rob halford followed closely by Queensryche lead singer Geoff Tate. They both hit ridiculous pitches both high and low, have amazing control over their voices, and are rock gods. Please, Michael Jackson?

Rob Halford is by far one of the best singers in the business. Hearing him in a live preformance is no soubt the best way to view his talents. Rob set the bar very high for future singers. To bad none of todays can really sing there own songs! Laugh out loud

You know, I like Iron Maiden more than Judas Priest and Bruce Dickinson has an amazing voice but, Rob Halford I must admit is superior. Sorry Bruce.

Rob Halford has THE best vocal range in my opinion(Regarding clean vocals), he goes from 6 octaves up there, to some of the deepest notes I have ever heard from clean vocals. And it's clean the whole ' time! Best singer, hands down.

I love all Judas Priest songs I recommend that you listen to breaking the law and the sentinel. He has the most amazing voice and I am surprised he is voted 40th. WOW! He should have been rated number 1.

Rob Halford is a metal god... One of the finest rock singers of all time. He is also a supreme showman; what an excellent stage presence and attitude he has. He is one of the finest performers alive.

Rob Halford has the best voice. His pitch is unmatched. How is M. Shadows and Eminem higher up than the master? M. Shadows can't touch Rob. And Eminem is a rapper. Rob Halford is #1

See him live! Blows your head off! Hasn't lost a thing! First concert ever in 82, saw them 2 years ago still amazing. At times you can actually feel Halford's voice go through you.

Some people in this list are laughable at best. MJ at no. 1 shows the lack of talent that people like to vote for. Look at rock n roll museum's inductees to see what I mean!

6 octaves is not something you can find anywhere, Rob voice can go from a High scream to a soft and low voice, not the best of all time, but still one of the greatest!
