Call of duty 4 is by far the best call of duty of all time. It was one of my first call of duties and I absolutely loved it. The campaign is full of suspense unlike mw2. For a game that came out in 2007 it is truly AMAZING there is not much difference in graphics between the new one and this one so I think that infinity ward did a outstanding job. In multiplayer there is not much weapon selection so I guess the other games win in that aspect. This game is truly the best Call of Duty ever it will always be my favorite!
Best story of all call of duty games ever! cmon vote that game mw2 is too easy at killing people and black ops too... vote this!
I don't say anything else, than This game is made for the real FPS-players. It has the best campaign and it's multiplayer gaming is very fun... First time I saw that gameplay I said: "Errh... Can I play :S? " This is so amazing game! 10/10
Call of Duty 4 is the best in my opinion because it only has 3 killstreaks, and the game is original. When I play Call of Duty 4, I feel like I am truly at war. The snipers and the guns in the game are all very good, none of them are over powered. I love this game, my favorite game in the world. If anyone thinks that this game is bad, that means that you have only played Black ops. I dislike Modern Warfare 2 because MW2 have so many horrible things about the game. Commando, Last Stand, Overpowered guns, Overpowered killstreaks such as the harriers and the chopper gunner, and over powered perks. The only perk that is over powered in Call of Duty 4 is Stopping Power, which nobody uses because they use other perks that can replace stopping power. I only use stopping power when I snipe, not when I rush with the MP5 silenced. This is a great game, I love this game, and this will be my favorite game of all time, tied with Modern Warfare 3. The Campaign is phenomenal. People who play this game, are all skilled players. The hackers also have seemed to move away from this game. Hackers are all in MW2 and World at War, there are almost no more hackers in Call of Duty 4 which makes the game extra great. Considering that Call of Duty 4 is a couple years old and still this popular amazes me. Call of Duty 4 will live forever. :-)
First game I got with me Xbox, I absolutely loved it. I went from a complete noob to a respectable player after a year or two playing this guy.
Sure there was some nooby stuff, random grenading, juggernaut, etc. But the nooby stuff back then is just so much more fun... And less nooby than the nooby stuff that came afterwards.
We had Tanks and nonstop MP40 no-scope "skill" from an entire map away (which were ridiculously big in WAW, by the way)... Not to mention "bouncing betties" modeled after the bomb that hit hiroshima.
We had nonstop campfests encouraged by compounding kill-streaks and insanely strong (and easy to use) assault rifles in MW2... And akimbo... And infinite noobtubes... And civil war shotguns that could hit you from orbit.
And now we get a copy of MW2, complete with all of its problems, but with a complimentary terrible spawning system and awful maps.
In my opinion the franchise has been going downhill since Call of Duty 4, maybe MW3 will be better, but if I had to bet I'd say they'll just add more irrelevant, and often downright stupid stuff that sounds cool but ruins game-play.
By far the best Call of Duty. It was my first Call of Duty and still I haven't gotten the same experience from a game yet. The experience I got was innovation. This is the game that started the copy paste cookie cutter games like mw2, WAW, and Black Ops, except that it wasn't something we've been spoon fed before. The guns in this game were fun to use. The maps were probably the best part. I looked forward to every map. The maps were the perfect size. Not too small to where a grenade got you three kills 2 seconds into the game but not to large where you couldn't find anyone. This game struck a perfect balance in gameplay, graphics, maps, and guns. While some guns were better than others, I could use any gun and be effective and while some perks were more useful than others, I could gets kills without martyrdom. I love this game and think it is the best game in the Call of Duty series.
They say war is hell. Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes you to the very depths of Hades. The long-awaited COD4, IW's follow-up to the excellent Call of Duty 2, is a jarring, intense, and gripping take on war in the new millennia. The enemies are smarter, the weapons are deadlier, and the grenades all too plentiful. COD4 will shake loose your fillings and have you begging for more.
Infinity Ward was born out of the success of retelling some of the greatest battles in World War II. The company has become synonymous with the virtual beach at Normandy. So it was quite a gamble to break from the comfort zone of Nazi-occupied Europe and leap into present day. The gamble paid off. Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and every other military-based shooter has been put on notice. There is a new standard to judge this sub-genre and it is Call of Duty 4.
Multiplayer. Now first of all.
DEDICATED SERVERS. So simple and yet so difficult to provide. Maps, mods, everything in the hands of the community, no DLC.
It's a real fps game for real gamers (ie pc not consoles, you need a mouse! ). In Call of Duty 4 your actual fps skills matters, can you move? Can you aim? The killstreaks adds to the game and are well balanced with the fps element.
The rest of the Call of Duty games (be it bo or mw) has just added a ton of stuff that takes away from that simple yet so sweet core that is fps.
I can see how a casual gamer would prefer the other games, all the killstreaks and whatnot sure sounds like a lot of fun (it made me buy them). BUT if you want to play a game where skill matters you play cod4. We have to entertain ourselves while we wait for quake 3 to be reborn.
This was the game that set the bar for not only graphics, but the multiplayer experience itself. Although the customizability was slightly more limited than the current Call of Duties, it was by far the most balanced game. Modern Warfare 3 was a step in the right direction, but the spawn system at times can be atrocious. I am a 2.3 k/d player and when I play free for all, it is just complete mayhem. The spawn system is a very hard thing to tweak, but I believe that the "Revenge Spawning" needs to go away. 6-12 People on a map is fine without you spawning behind 5 other people while they spawn behind you.
Seriously, call of duty modern warfare 2 the best Call of Duty game?! Call of duty 4 by the way is the best Call of Duty game by far for me and about 1 million people. Call of duty 4 didn't have any flaw, except that now nobody can play it because of the hackers. Firstly, Call of Duty 4 reminds you war more than the other games do. Secondly, there aren't any overpowered guns. Lastly it was the first game that introduced zombie mode. Now, about modern warfare 2 I will only mention 5 things. 1. Overpowered secondaries. 2. One man army. 3. Boosters. 4. Dethstreaks. 5. Campers. Still, I don't say that the gamplay wasn't good, but it had some flaws that the producers needed to fix.
The game was incredible on PC. On consoles it was just as boring as all the other Call of Duty games. You would play for a month or two and then leave it there and search for another title because the game was "too easy". On PC however it felt completely different. It was a great FPS game and the thing that made it look great was Promod, which kept the needed things on the game, the best maps and left out all the stuff (perks, levels, gun-extras etc). Personally I believe that if there were more attention in the game, it would have been evolved even better. Sadly the game is now dead.
This game was so well balanced, it's tough to not crown it as the best call of duty game. Every weapon on every map make sense, and the game is fun to play. This is probably the only Call of Duty game that actually still has a bit of a stealth element to it, as well as being combat-intensive, so the game has quite some variety. The physics engine is very consistent, where it's successors suffer from major lag issues. The environments were pretty well designed, so this is a call of duty game that actually deserves a place in video game history.
I love the original cods that have online multiplayer. I love mw3 but this one better because mw3 hasnt got good enough spawns and they could have worked better on survival. Everything is perfect in this game except multiplayer is lacking some choice but it's still great fun. Black Ops is equal to this but mw1 campaign is better. MW2 isn't that good I don't like the online much compared to mw1 and 3. Mw2 campaign is really boring except for the last 3 or 4 missions and I rally hate mw2 spec ops so I'm going for mw1 followed by black ops then mw3
Why would you not pick COD4? If it wasn't for COD4 their would be no MW2 or Crap ops or Modern Warfare 3. This is by far the best call of duty ever. Does anyone remember the noobtubes in this game? Oh that's right their weren't any. Anyone remember commando in this game, sorry wrong game. Or second chance? Yes it was there but it was a horrible perk. I hope that the next Call of Duty is a COD4 remake with the only change the graphics. This game even with the hackers is better than any other Call of Duty and I will stand by that all the way
The best and most improved game of its time. The graphics are amazing, not to forget the beautiful online gameplay. The campaign on this game is ridiculously good and outranks all others. The simplicity of the 3,5 and 7 will never be matched again. I'm waitin for the re-release (i'm hoping there will be) This is the best all round call of duty by far. The only reason it isn't number 1 is because of the larger fanbase of mw3m, due to more people buying into gaming. The only people that don't think its the best are the people that haven't played it.
I like this one a lot better than any other. There wasnt as many perks which I liked a lot. The new CoDs have way to much put in the game. They bummed down the mp5 and the m16 in the new ones. That's depressing. They shoulda never put recon or sitrep or blast shield either in the game, its just not original. No one likes akimbos or double attachments. Id rather have stopping power and deep impact all day. Id rather play someone with juggernaught then stupid pathetic recon. CoD4 is the best game ever created. Hands down.
Call of Duty 4 is the best of the series because of its campaign and great multiplayer. The multiplayer had some much more variation in maps allowing for different play styles. WaW's only bad point was its setting. Mw2 was alright but it started to become a game that required no skill, not saying the Call of Duty games require much, and more run and gun. Black ops... The game sucks, the campaign was cool but the multiplayer was by far the worse. Here's hoping mw3 will some what resemble Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Quite possibly the greatest game ever created, the fact that people have voted for MW2 over the original MW is an injustice. This was the game that killed off world War 2 as the main setting for combat, it introduced the console gamer to the thrills of modern day combat. The engine ran brilliantly, guns and kill-streaks were better balanced than they have been in any subsequent Call of Duty, and probably, best of all, it gave the world Captain Pric, owner of the greatest facial hair in the history on mankind!
Call of Duty 4 is the best of them all. Call of Duty 4 had the most balanced gameplay out of all the other cods. There was no gun that was overused, everyone used all the guns that were available. In mw2, no one used light machine guns. Call of Duty Waw, everyone used the mp40. No other Call of Duty can compare to the simplistic gameplay that cod4 offers. In the other cods, you rely on your killstreaks to get you your kills; in cod4 they were only icing on the cake. Cod4 revitalized the fps genre as a whole
This game was a pioneer... It brought the excitement of Call of Duty to the modern front. The campaign was UNREAL! From the excitement of running and gunning to the suspense of stealthily making your way through hundreds of enemy soldiers undetected, this was the most well rounded Call of Duty game by far... I'm not even going to get started on the multiplayer because it is a game on its own... Absolutely perfect in all categories... This will always be my favorite Call of Duty game.
PC COD4 owns ALL and current Call of Duty games today. It's the crest of how a game should be created and proves "if it ain't broke, why fix it? " They should've stuck to this formula. But money took precedence over their weak, insipid minds. For anyone who thinks, or even eludes to the notion, that P2P is superior (a la, ignorant console players), then they have absolutely no idea how great having actual proper dedicated servers are.
I reckon this is the best "Call Of Duty" out first to be made and also the best. It has a lot of potential in it. Fun to play, its also more then a game over the passed years it had been a hobby other then just a game the graphics are the same with all the Call Of Duties combined. The guns are also cool my favorite gun in this game is the MP5 I don't know why but it just is, If anyone would like to start playing the Call of Duty series I recommend you start of with this one or play this one
While newer call of duty's have much better multiplayer and graphics, if you're playing them for the campaign then you will see some deteriorating quality in the follow ups to this masterpiece. It plays out like a well crafted season of 24. Slow build up where necessary, jaw dropping moments, easily some of the best levels in any game ever specifically the ghillied up mission. While no call of duty is necessarily poor quality, the campaign is outstanding all the way through

Its the first one in the Modern Warfare series, and seriously is the best. It was one of a kind when it was launched and it has one of the best multiplayer till now. The story and the cinematic experiences are rich enough to give a gamer a one-of-a kind experience. Captain Price and "Soap" Mac Tavish are my favourite game characters till now and always be. Hats off to infinity ward for making Modern Warfare, I wait for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 and soap to return!
