American idiot. The 2nd best album of all time after thriller. 5 superhit singles rest 8 superb songs with different creativity, art, music and lyrics. And if you're are saying HYBRID THEORY sold 30 million copies, its wrong. The true value is 24 million but american idiot sold 14 million copies. I accept that but there was different time. At that time internet was not so popular so people just buy the album. But almost after 5 years when american idiot was released the internet was popular in all over the world, so people around the world did not need to buy a copy from a shop. AND IN ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE american idiot was ranked 22 best album of decade but in reader's choice it was at rank.1. And in both two list there was no hybrid theory or meteora of linkin park. IN KERRANG MAGAZINE american idiot was ranked 5 at best album of all time. And the songs are amazing in AI.

American Idiot came out at a time when people where afraid to speak out due to 9/11. Green Day didn't care about what people where and wheren't supposed to say, they released the album filled with rage and disappointment about America and it's politics anyway.
The storyline throughout the whole album is appealing to the youth as everybody can find something to identify with. And with a mix of angry rock songs like "American Idiot" to emotional ballads like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" I don't see how this can't be considered the greatest album of all time.
Even if it's almost 6 years since it first came out it is still current with a now on going Broadway play.
That, for me, makes American Idiot the obvious choice on this list.

Every song connects to one another and it forms something that is so awesome. An amazing story about a angst punk kid's life (JOS) and how he felt throughout all of it. His girlfriend telling him he became all that he hates "You're not the Jesus of Suburbia. The St. Jimmy is a thing made up of your father's rage and your mother's love. You're not the idiot America! " basically I really can't briefly describe this album! XD

Best album ever because it has the best story line teenager runs away from home, meets his alter ego St. Jimmy and whatsername (she breaks his heart) and realizes running from home didn't change him he just makes memories in the city he runs away to and experiments with drugs. He says "Forgetting you but not the time"

This is simply the best album ever written. The lyrics are true and represent a story which you can follow the whole way through. It's a perfect album without any flaws.

Come on people! Twenty? They made a broadway on this album! Its beautiful!

There's truth in this album. It isn't just a string of songs. It's a life in lyrics.

One album I never get tired of listening to straight through. Every song contains so much emotion, and all are musically powerful. Certainly the very best album of the last decade and of many before and for many more to come. American Idiot is a true masterpiece.

This album is a true global success! The tracks contain album are so good that we do not get tired of always listen. This is so good that it surprises me that it is not number one... For all Fannes Green Day, it will remain an album that marked the 2000s.

There are very few albums where you absolutely love EVERY song on it, and this is one of em! Letterbomb <33333 Jesus of suburbia <33333 boulevard of broken dreams <333 so many incerdible songs with awesome lyrics :DD love it! Come on top 10 at least!

I could listen to this album on repeat for days. It is so diverse, innovative, and each song is a masterpiece. Jesus Of Suburbia is the greatest track, in my opinion... Although they're all brilliant an I love each one so much!

Really, only twelve? Well I love it because it includes characters throughout the album such as Gloria and Christian, Jesus of Suburbia and St. Jimmy and are mentioned as in a story in the songs.

Okay so this album has sold around 15mil copies, been made into a broadway play, and now they announced that Tom Hanks will be producing they movie in 2013! Come on this has gotta be in the top ten!

Dont wanna be an American Idiot (Yeah well I do). WHY, let me ask again WHY is this album not in the top ten along with We Sold our Soul for Rock 'N' Roll by Black Sabbath.

It was close between American Idiot & 21st century breakdown, but songs like "Wake me up when september ends" swung it American Idiot's way

The best album ever recorded!

London Calling is the best. But I love Green Day and it deserves to be in top ten. And above Linkin Park. One of the greatest rock opera album.

One of the best of all-time. It includes 4 of my favourite all-time songs. Most albums leave you with one or two that are memorable.

From start to finish, an amazing album. If not the best album of all time it is definitely the best album of the 21st century.
