well first of all I have to add that every single instrument in a band is very impotant or else it wouldn't even be in the band... but the bass is really the thing that keeps everything going, even while all the other instruments stop the bass keeps it all rumbling along... and there are many ways of incorporating bass, like in rap where it is a booming noise, in mainstream bands where it keeps everything going, or in metal bands where it follows a sick guitar riff... and then there are bands such as Tool, Korn, Primus, and Muse where the music is based around the bass

I used to be a fan of Metallica, until they changed everything from The Black Album in 1991. Seriously, they changing their genre from Trash Metal to Progressive Hard Rock (black album) to Country-Rock (Load) to New Metal (St. Anger). Metallica in the 90's was terrible and all of you should know that! You know the song Master of Puppets? All the fans were connected to those strings, then they changed in the 90s and some of our strings snapped because we don't want to see Metallica anymore. Don't get me started with St. Anger, it is the worst album ever created and it sickens me that some Metallica fans of today forgotten that they haven't made the trash metal album we expected. Go listen to Load, Reload, Garbage Inc. , and St. Anger and admit that it's not trash; it's complete junk. Sure Death Magnet was great, but why haven't they made the album over a decade ago? Metallica is another one of those bands that had it all and refused to give us old fans that we expected. Don't tell me to watch their "Some Kind of Monster" documentary because it's just a drama and it does not explain why they don't make more trash metal.
